Landscape

  1. Put top dress down (Bark Mulch)
  2. Fertilize acid loving plants (Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Camellias, etc)
  3. Apply pre-emergent for weed control (make sure to follow the directions, as timing and proper application are important)
  4. First spring feed for lawn
  5. Check out irrigation system for winter damage, but leave off at this time

Well Water Systems

  1. Test your water for surface contaminations from the winter (especially if there was high water in your area)
  2. Spring Tune-Up
    1. Check for winter damage (hydrants, pump cycling, etc)
    2. Evaluate your Well’s condition for the upcoming demand of the warmer months
  3. Great time to upgrade to a new Constant Pressure System
    1. Provides consistent pressure
    2. Power consumption
    3. Efficient operation, soft start system for less wear and tear

April

  1. Plant annuals and Vegetables in cold frames for an early start. Set out after last frost date (April 15)
  2. Complete paver patio and retaining wall projects for planting next month
  3. Good time to thatch and over-seed lawn
  4. Continue chemical control if larvae are present
  5. Apply pre-emergent weed control
  6. Have your pump system checked out to ensure it is functioning at maximum capacity for the high usage months ahead

May

  1. Plant color and Vegetables. Remember to enrich the soil with compost and turn it in
  2. Good time to upgrade your existing sprinkler system and/or make sure to repair damaged sprinklers and non functioning controllers, etc.
  3. Weather and soil conditions begin to make tilling and grading a possibility for new lawns
  4. Fertilize lawn
  5. Effective control of Crane Fly and Sod Web Worm Larvae is still possible
